What’s the success rate?
Short-term improvement (6-12 months) in 40-60% of carefully selected patients. Long-term durability is the issue · success at 5 years is significantly lower as new venous channels develop. Penile implant has more reliable long-term results.
Should I just get a penile implant instead?
For most men with severe ED that hasn’t responded to PDE5 inhibitors or ICI, a penile implant gives more reliable, durable results than vein ligation. Vein ligation is a niche option for specific anatomical situations. We discuss both options at consultation.
