IGF-1 LR3

IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-1) is a synthetic, long-acting analog of insulin-like growth factor 1, the hormone that carries out many of the downstream effects of growth hormone in the body. It is an experimental, research-stage molecule with very limited human data, not an approved medicine. At Menscape Clinic in Bangkok, we provide evidence-based education on IGF-1 LR3 so that English-speaking men can understand what is and is not known before making any decision about advanced peptide therapy.

What IGF-1 LR3 is studied for

Indications evaluated in research, listed in order of current evidence weight. Suitability is determined case-by-case.

Muscle growth signaling

Studied in laboratory and animal models for its ability to activate satellite cells and drive muscle protein synthesis. Human clinical evidence for this use is essentially absent.

IGF-1 LR3 therapy at Menscape Clinic Bangkok

Tissue repair

Researched in preclinical settings for its role in cell proliferation and tissue regeneration through the IGF-1 receptor. These findings have not been confirmed in controlled human trials.

Body composition

Examined in animal studies for effects on lean mass and growth-tissue response. Any influence on human body composition remains unproven and is not an approved indication.

Cellular growth pathways

Investigated in research for activating the PI3K/Akt/mTOR and MAPK/ERK pathways that govern cell growth and survival. This is mechanistic, lab-stage science, not a demonstrated clinical benefit.

IGF-1 axis research

Used as a research tool to study the growth-hormone to IGF-1 signaling axis. Its long half-life makes it of interest to scientists, not a validated therapy for men.

What is IGF-1 LR3?

IGF-1 LR3, or Long R3 IGF-1, is a synthetic version of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), the molecule through which growth hormone produces many of its effects on muscle, bone and other tissue. The native IGF-1 sequence has been modified in two ways: an arginine substitution at position 3 and an extra 13-amino-acid extension at one end, giving an 83-amino-acid analog. These changes sharply reduce how tightly it binds to IGF-binding proteins, which extends its half-life from minutes to roughly 20 to 30 hours and increases tissue exposure. It is important to be clear that IGF-1 LR3 is a research-stage compound. It is not the same as mecasermin (Increlex), the approved form of native IGF-1, and it has not itself been through the clinical development that an approved medicine requires.

How IGF-1 LR3 is thought to work

IGF-1 LR3 binds the IGF-1 receptor, the same receptor used by natural IGF-1. In laboratory and animal research, this activates two downstream signaling cascades: the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway, associated with protein synthesis and cell growth, and the MAPK/ERK pathway, associated with cell proliferation. In muscle tissue specifically, animal studies suggest it can activate satellite cells and support muscle fiber growth. Because it is a potent growth signal that resists the body's normal binding-protein controls, it also carries insulin-like glucose-lowering activity. This mechanism is reasonably well characterized in the lab, but a plausible mechanism is not the same as a proven, safe benefit in humans, and that distinction matters a great deal here.

Who researches IGF-1 LR3, and the honest limits

IGF-1 LR3 is primarily of interest to researchers studying the growth-hormone to IGF-1 axis, muscle biology and tissue repair. It has also been used non-clinically in performance and physique communities, which is not a medical endorsement and carries real risk. The honest position is that human evidence for IGF-1 LR3 is very limited and largely animal-based. There are no large controlled human safety or efficacy trials for this specific analog. Men with a history of cancer, active tumors, diabetes or unstable blood sugar, or significant cardiovascular disease should treat IGF-1 LR3 as inappropriate, given its mitogenic (growth-promoting) signaling and glucose-lowering effects.

How IGF-1 LR3 is approached at Menscape Clinic

At Menscape Clinic in Bangkok, our role with a molecule like IGF-1 LR3 is education and honest medical counsel, not promotion. Because it is experimental, not approved, and carries meaningful risks, we do not present it as a routine offering. Any man considering it deserves a frank conversation about the thin human evidence, the realistic dangers, and the better-studied, regulated alternatives that exist for muscle, recovery and healthy aging. Our doctors can review your goals and medical history and, where appropriate, point you toward options with a stronger safety and evidence base. You can reach our English-speaking team on WhatsApp to ask questions before any consultation.

Frequently asked questions about IGF-1 LR3

Is IGF-1 LR3 FDA approved or legal?

No. IGF-1 LR3 is not approved by the FDA for any medical use and is not an approved medicine in Thailand or elsewhere. It is sold and handled as a research chemical, often labeled not for human use. The approved form of IGF-1, mecasermin (Increlex), is a different product approved only for severe primary IGF-1 deficiency, and it is not the LR3 analog. Treat any marketing that calls IGF-1 LR3 FDA-approved as inaccurate.

Is IGF-1 LR3 safe?

There is no robust human safety data for IGF-1 LR3, so it cannot honestly be called safe. The most immediate known risk is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), which can cause shakiness, confusion and, in severe cases, loss of consciousness. Because it is a strong growth signal, there are also theoretical concerns about promoting tumor growth and acromegaly-like changes with prolonged use. These risks are why we approach it with caution rather than recommend it casually.

What does IGF-1 LR3 actually have evidence for?

Most of the evidence is preclinical, meaning it comes from cell and animal studies, not controlled human trials. In those settings it has been studied for muscle growth, satellite-cell activation and tissue repair through the IGF-1 receptor. There is no good-quality human trial confirming these effects are safe or effective in men, and you should be skeptical of any source presenting it as a proven treatment.

How is IGF-1 LR3 different from regular IGF-1?

Native IGF-1 is rapidly bound by IGF-binding proteins and cleared within minutes. IGF-1 LR3 is engineered with an arginine-3 substitution and a 13-amino-acid extension that reduce that binding, so it stays active far longer, around 20 to 30 hours, and reaches tissue more freely. That extended potency is exactly why it needs more caution, not less.

Can IGF-1 LR3 cause low blood sugar?

Yes. IGF-1 LR3 has insulin-like activity and can lower blood glucose, sometimes for many hours after a dose because of its long half-life. This is one of the main reasons it is considered risky outside of controlled research, and it is genuinely dangerous for anyone with diabetes, blood-sugar instability, or who is fasting.

Does Menscape Clinic offer IGF-1 LR3 in Bangkok?

Because IGF-1 LR3 is experimental, not approved, and carries real risks, we do not promote it as a routine therapy. What our Bangkok clinic does offer is honest medical guidance: our English-speaking doctors can explain what is known, review your health history, and discuss better-studied, regulated options for muscle, recovery and healthy aging. You are welcome to message our team on WhatsApp with questions first.
