Risks and recovery

External wart removal is a minor procedure. Internal urethral procedures are surgical and require more recovery. Here's what to expect.

  • Mild stinging or burning at the site for 5-10 days
  • Crusting or scab over removed areas, healing in 1-2 weeks
  • Temporary skin colour change at the site (resolves)

No sex for 2 weeks after removal. Apply prescribed ointment 2× daily. Strongly consider preventive vaccination — it doesn't clear current warts but dramatically reduces recurrence and high-risk strain transmission.

Genital warts are small skin growths caused by a viral skin condition. They can appear in the groin, anal area, or other intimate sites and are common, usually harmless, and treatable in a single visit.
